I've used StarTech products for years and have always been satisfied with them and this item is no different. My windows laptop just has USB-C ports and I needed something to help me use the many USB-A devices I still have - external drives, mice, numeric keypad etc. This device gives me 4 USB-A ports, which is perfect for my needs. The other bonus is that it has a small footprint so it's easy to toss into my pack pack and take with me and it does take up much desk space. The quality and build seems quite good. I have no issues with the speed either. I feel the price point is reasonable. Overall, a great solution for those that have a USB-C port and need to plug in several USB-A devices.

This 4-port USB hub is a useful addition to any computer with limited USB ports. It plugs into a USB-C port, and provides four USB-A ports. It does not require an external power source. It is a big help with my Surface Go, which has only 1 USB port. My only complaint is that all the ports in the hub are USB-A, so, as in the case with my Surface Go, it uses the only USB-C and does not provide any to replace it. It would be nice to have a mixture of port types on the hub itself. However, this is listed and sold as providing a hub with 4 USB-A ports, and that it does. They all function properly. The hub is compact and it has a nifty feature of allowing the cable to tuck into one of its own ports when not in use. If what you need is to replace a USB-C port on your computer with 4 USB-A ports, this is for you, and well worth the modest price.

Nice hub from a good company. Works like it's supposed to, but I would of liked to see it have a bit more versatility by including a USB-C port also.

I've had a lot of startech devices over the years and generally find them to be competently designed and built. This USB-C hub is no exception. The build is solid and clean, the USB-C connection is snug but not too tight. The USB A type connectors are well built, feel secure with peripherals, and are full speed. See my attached screen shot - I was able to reach a speed of 5GB/s while copying 5GBs of files from an attached drive. Despite my best abilities I wasn't able to slow this hub down. There was also no noticeable heat or power draw during my very scientific tests (which included me placing my finger on the hub while transferring files, like I said - highly scientific). The USB-C connector has a little wing on it, which took me a minute to realize the designed intent. The "wing" is simply to allow stowage of the cord in an unused USB-A port while traveling. It's compact, lightweight, and does what it's supposed to do - 5/5 stars.
