I had a similar experience with the acoustagrip with the previous reviewer. (I bought the previous model). However I recently had my cello varnish retouched and decided to give it another try for protection. I've discovered that it's sticks perfectly now to the cello, and I'm sure that the reason is that it only works on a perfectly smooth surface. So if you have damaged slightly the smooth surface of your varnish, as many of us have from time to time, it won't work. I do think that acoustagrip should probably make this clear in their instructions; it's not going to work on varnish that has been roughed up or damaged from sweat contact. But now that it's working I absolutely love it! Greatly adds to comfort while playing.

The chest rest simply DOESN'T stick to the cello. Very likely the glue paper is old and useless. After waiting for the rest I had to send it back but being sold by amazon.com I had to pack and ship it by post. Just unacceptable.

Fini les bleus et les taches de frottements sur les habits !à voir dans le temps, combien de temps durera l'adhésif.

The most padding I have found yet. Very comfortable but have not lost the feel of the cello. I just don't know how long it will hold up.
